The following is directly quoted from the artist’s website:

Auntie Peggy Has Departed 2003, mercerised cotton, audio equipment, 2 part looped soundtrack. Aldwych Tube Station, the Strand, London.

Doilies are like dreamcatchers, each knot holding a thought, a memory. The sum of these make up the history of a place.
The soundtrack accompanying this piece echoed the sounds of people going by, things rushing though, the circulation of air itself.
It focused the attention on the character of the subterranean space: angular and mechanical noises, musical fragments, sounds signals, human voices, echoed from one area to another. The soundtrack created a unique aural experience out of a real, remembered or imaginary situation.
The piece was dedicated to Peggy, and her lifelong enthusiasm for the crochet work and needlecraft.

Mt. Everest has approximately 200 dead bodies lying on the mountain. It is nearly impossible for recovery of a body off the mountain. The “death zone” is 26,000 feet. The air there is extremely thin. Lack of oxygen leaves a climber bewildered and weak and can cause them to pass out and get frostbite. Many people lose their lives here. The bodies are left in the same positions where they died and have even become landmarks for other travelers. The top photograph shows a body which has been given the name “green boots” and has been there since 1996.

using dead bodies as landmarks is way hardcore

i think we should bring this idea into every day practice and replace all of our street signs with corpses

Okay, that is fucking nuts.
